Old socks lying around? Don’t toss them in the bin — give them a second life as playful sock puppets! This quick and eco-friendly craft is perfect for sparking creativity in kids (and adults too). Turbo loves using his sock puppets to act out silly farmyard stories… though Kevin the frog insists he deserves a starring role every time.
What You’ll Need
Clean old socks (longer socks work best)
Buttons, googly eyes, or fabric scraps for eyes
Yarn or ribbon for hair
Felt or fabric pieces for tongues, ears, or clothes
Needle & thread or craft glue
How to Make Them
Choose Your Sock: Pick a clean, colourful sock. Slip it on your hand so the heel forms the puppet’s head.
Add Eyes: Sew or glue on buttons, beads, or googly eyes.
Make Hair: Use yarn, ribbon, or scraps of fabric.
Decorate: Add felt tongues, ears, or clothes to bring your character to life.
Playtime: Create silly voices, tell stories, and put on a puppet show!
Sock puppets are proof that even the simplest items can spark hours of fun. Instead of throwing old socks away, turn them into characters for storytelling, play, and laughter. Gather the family, grab those odd socks, and get ready for some puppet-powered fun this weekend!
Turbo’s Tip
“Don’t make a duck puppet — you’ll never match my quacking skills!”
