Turn your old egg cartons into a colony of spooky bats! This easy upcycle is perfect for Halloween — fun for kids, thrifty for adults, and a great way to give cardboard a second life.
What You Need
1 empty cardboard egg carton
Black paint (or a marker)
Scissors
String or ribbon
Googly eyes (or draw your own)
Glue
How To Make Them
Cut: Snip the egg carton into 3-cup sections (they’ll look like little “wings”).
Shape: Trim the edges to make pointy bat wings.
Paint: Coat the whole thing in black paint (or colour with a marker).
Eyes: Stick on googly eyes or draw with white paint/pen.
Hang: Thread a hole at the top with string or ribbon. Hang them up in groups for a spooky bat colony.
Turbo’s Tip
“Quack-quack! Don’t forget — bats love hanging upside down, just like me after too many worms! Hang your bats high in the garden, or on a wall to spook your neighbours!”
