Don’t toss that old plastic bottle! With a little creativity, you can turn it into a bird feeder that brightens your garden and helps our feathered friends. Turbo says he’d rather keep all the seeds for himself… but sometimes sharing is nice.

Materials

  • 1 clean plastic bottle (1–2 litre works best)

  • 2 wooden spoons or sturdy sticks (for perches)

  • String or wire (to hang)

  • Bird seed

  • Scissors / craft knife (adult supervision required)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry your bottle.

  2. Cut two small holes near the bottom on opposite sides. Push wooden spoons through so they form perches, with the spoon bowl sticking out to hold seed.

  3. Cut small seed holes just above the spoons, so food can spill onto them.

  4. Make a hole at the top and tie string or wire through.

  5. Fill with bird seed, hang from a tree branch, and watch the birds flock in!

Turbo’s Tip

“Careful — once the sparrows find it, there won’t be much left for us ducks!”
